Map to

 Devil’s Kitchen

(Please use care, caution and courtesy on Ln 33,

 Bentonite Haul Road (Large trucks).

Proceed east from Greybull on Highway 14. Turn onto Davis Lane (Road):

(8-1/10 miles to Devil’s Kitchen from this turn.) Proceed north (1-1/10 mile) along Davis Lane to Lane 33. The sign there will direct you to turn left onto Lane 33 (haul road). Along Lane 33, the haul road, the hills are volcanic in nature, and include bentonite (volcanic ash). Bentonite is our foremost area manufactured export. It is found in kitty litter, ice cream, makeup, oil well drilling lubricants, and flood control materials.

It is 3-7/10 mile from the turn onto Lane 33 to the turn to Devil’s Kitchen Overlook. A sign here will direct you to turn left and you proceed only 2/10 mile to the Overlook. See why it’s called Devil’s Kitchen?

Also, about 50 feet walking left (east) of the overlook is another section of this Cloverly formation - terrestrial interbedded sandstones, silstones, mudstones and weathered volcanic ash -that is colorful and unusual. Don’t miss this. The distinct color changes between the red and green beds is due to iron content and varying degrees of oxidation.
